Dr. Marie-Christine Koop Receives Prestigious Award

Our former chair and long-time professor of French, Dr. Marie-Christine Koop, received the prestigious Medal of the Ordre des Francophones d'Amerique on September 25. This medal has been awarded every year since 1978 by the Council of the French Language, to individuals who are devoted or dedicated to the maintenance and development of the French language in North America. This award, given by the Quebec government, was presented to Dr. Koop at an all-day ceremony which included a reception at the City Hall of Quebec City and the signing of the "Golden Book". The Prime Minister of Quebec conferred the award in front of two State Secretaries and two government officials at the National Assembly Hall.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Koop on her fine achievement!
